Take the Pledge
Touch Sala Bai soft-launched the Take the Pledge Campaign on 16th May, 2013. From 15th to 24th November, 2013, Detroit native and Singapore resident Sam McGoun will run, cycle and swim 700km across Cambodia. Inspired by the students at Sala Bai Hotel and Restaurant School in Siem Reap, and symbolic of the journey many of them make to obtain an education and training at the school, leading to employment within the Cambodian hospitality industry, this astonishing demonstration of endurance and commitment signifies Sam’s lifelong personal pledge to help prevent human trafficking before it starts. This is the second Cross Cambodia Journey Sam has undertaken - the first was in April 2012 - and this year he has pledged to travel further.
Learn how Sala Bai empowers Cambodia's most impoverished young women to obtain employment in Siem Reap's growing hospitality industry in Khatna's Journey: A Sala Bai Story.
Watch A Step in Between, a short documentary film that chronicles Sam's 2012 Cross-Cambodia Journey through the voice of one courageous human trafficking survivor.
You don’t have to run 700km! But this is what you can do:
What does taking a pledge to fight human trafficking mean to you?
